If you are like some of us, you have a section in your bookmarks that you devised to (kind of) be able to sync your tab or websites you want to view on a different device later on. As of today, you will not have to do that anymore. Recently, Google announced on their blog that the stable release channel for Chrome will now have the ability to sync tabs through multiple of devices, starting specifically with Chrome version 19. Google has said in a post…

When you’re signed in to Chrome, your open tabs are synced across all your devices, so you can quickly access them from the “Other devices” menu on the New Tab page. If you’ve got Chrome for Android Beta, you can open the same tab right on your phone. The back and forward buttons will even work, so you can pick up browsing right where you left off.

Google has said that the tabs syncing will be integrated with the standard bookmark/apps/extensions/preferences syncing already in previous versions of Chrome. Although the feature is available today, Google has said that the feature will be gradually rolled out in the coming weeks.

In relation to Google releasing tab syncing to the stable channel of Google Chrome, Business Insider is reporting that a iOS version of Chrome will be coming in the following months. Insider Ben Schacter said that “Google Chrome browser for iOS is coming” and “Apple may already be reviewing Google’s submitted code for a Chrome browser for iOS.” The app is expected to come to the iOS app store around the second quarter of 2012. Hopefully Apple will approve the app.

If you thought that Wi-Fi’s 5GHz band was the fastest at transmitting data, you are very wrong. Six researchers from the Tokyo Institute of Technology has just recently successfully transmitted data in the terahertz range, making it 20 times faster than the current fastest Wi-Fi in the market.

The reason scientists were able to transmit in the terahertz range is because of the frequency it transmits. Instead of maxing the transmission of Wi-Fi to 5Ghz, scientists transmitted in the “T-Ray” band locating between the microwave (300 GHz band) and infrared (3 THz band), transmitting around 542 GHz. Previously the “T-Ray” band was used for imaging in the research market and usually used in X-Rays because of its ability to penetrate many material and leaving the least amount of damage.

Although the spectrum allows the device to transmit up to 3Gbps, it is only capable of transmitting up to an estimated 30 feet (similar to bluetooth distance). As there are specifications being developed to be able to transmit two to three times the amount of data the researchers are getting, the “T-Ray” band transmission sounds like a done deal. The advantage is that the parts required to transmit that signal require only 0.04 square inches in parts, something that can be applied to a mobile phone or a small gadget.

Although “T-Ray” band transmission sound good for short distance device syncing, it is just being developed, and we do not know when it will be available int the consumer market. At best, you could go with the 802.11ac WiFi spectrum (whenever it comes out), transmitting at a max of 1.3 Gbps, though that will not speed up your Internet.

According to AllThingsD, they are reporting that some close sources are saying that Google is in talks with Meebo, a Mountain View based start-up, to acquire the company for the price of 100 million USD. Meebo, who once started in 2005 with a web-based instant messaging service seven years ago (which still operates the service under the name Meebo Messenger), currently have multiple sorts of social products and customers. Over the past seven years, they have received multiple backings from multiple sources (including Sequoia Capital and Draper Fisher Jurvetson), totaling of more than 60 million USD. Now, Google may be buying the company.

It is likely to assume the possible acquisition of the company is to help with Google’s plus service and possibly to enhance their advertising service. With Meebo’s social bar integrated on many sites, allowing site owners the ability to add social sharing and advertising overlay on their sites, it will help Google spread their +1 to more sites, allowing more interactivity and help make Google + more appealing to more users online and help enhance Google +1 service in Google plus. Also, with Meebo’s original Meebo Messenger, Google can use that service to link with the other popular instant messaging service, making Google the possible definitive place for instant messaging (though it is a commentary as it is highly uncertain).

As of right now, no one on either side are commenting about the rumor. Google’s has said that they are not currently commenting on the rumors. We will have wait it out to see if this rumor is true.

After a long relationship with Google for their Google Maps, Apple is soon going to dump Google for their Google Maps. Although Apple owns all of the frontend to the Maps app, the backend of the Maps service is owned by Google. 9to5Mac is reporting that the next version of iOS, iOS 6, will use their own maps service in replacement of Google Maps. This is to the recent events over the year when Apple announced that they are acquiring a few small mapping service, including C3, Poly9, and Placebase. Some of the reports were that the original Maps app image is being redome with different color of the famous 1 Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino.

One of the most important feature coming to the new Maps app is the 3D mode; which will probably be an option that is available under the maps page flap, where the option to enable traffic overlay is. This is most likely based from C3′s technologies, the reason Apple acquired the company. Although Apple recently acquired the company, most of the top executives have left the company perusing other opportunities or other projects.

The leave of Google Maps is due to the wars it had and still having with Google roaming around the Silicon Valley and the Bay Area of California. We have had reports that Apple is moving its maps to the more free OpenStreetMaps service.

Apple will most likely reveal the new Maps app including iOS 6 in the upcoming Apple Word Wide Developer Conference in mid-June, which is in the matter of weeks. We will learn more about the new Maps app and more features that iOS 6 will have.

Boy Loves Girl is one of those games that’s difficult to compare to anything else out there. While the basic controls and obstacles are similar to that of a million different 2D flying games out there, the wit and story is something entirely unique.

Essentially, you’re chasing a girl through a field while pulling the moon tied to a string. If the moon comes in contact with a cloud or gets struck by lightning, you lose. It’s your job to keep the moon out of through as you race through a field chasing girls, gazelles, and other things.

The game itself is somewhat fun, though I found a lot of the dialogue to be strange. It’s almost as if the game was developed by someone with no real grasp of the English language. The game itself gets old after a few hours, though I’d say that it could be a ton of fun for more casual players looking for a silly love theme set to a remarkably easy game.

Wicked Lasers, the makers of the crazy laser pointers that is so powerful that it can destroy things and shine a laser into space, has recently unveiled a new add-on to their lasers that many geeks will want to buy....

Wicked Lasers, the makers of the crazy laser pointers that is so powerful that it can destroy things and shine a laser into space, has recently unveiled a new add-on to their lasers that many geeks will want to buy. Wicked Lasers announced that they are now selling a $100 USD add-on to their S3 model lasers to function similarly like a Light Saber from Star Wars. Named the LaserSaber, to avoid any trademark issues from Lucas Films, the device will make their S3 line of laser pointers look and feel like a weapon used in Star Wars. On their product page, it says..

Are you ready to wield the world’s first and only LaserSaber - a radiant blade that pulses with energy. LaserSabers are energized by the light of Wicked Lasers, harnessing the power of the force. The LaserSaber features an ultra smooth magnetic gravity system that can “power up” and “power down” the blade.

The add-on is a 32″ by 1/8″ polycarbonate blade with a anodized T6061 aircraft grade aluminum that will provide a smooth light up and light down effect. The device has a built-in optical element designed to diffuse the laser, designed to evenly diffuse the light across the device. With a metal sphere suspended permanently inside the device, it causes the optical element to create the beam grow effects. Also a magnet at the tip of the add-on to lock the laser into place and disengaged by bumping the S3 laser with sufficient force.

Though if you want to have an almost realistic replica of a Light Saber, you will need an S3 laser pointer from them to go with the LaserSaber add-on. Costing a minimum of $289.95 for the lowest end laser pointer, the 1W S3 Arctic laser pointer, the total just to have a close replica of a real Light Saber will set you back $389.90. You may just have to stick with a plastic replica.

Microsoft has mode some surprising news as they are slowly releasing more information of the final release of Windows 8. Unless you are going to get the Media Center Edition of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, it is most likely that the next version of Windows 8 will not have built-in support to play DVD videos and movies (NOTE: data DVD will still operate on all versions of the Windows 8 operating system). Although Microsoft will not support DVD video playback on most models of the Windows 8 operating system, many third-party software will still be allowed to play DVD videos in Windows 8 (some of the popular players include Videolan’s VLC player and MPlayer).

The reason Microsoft is removing DVD video playback to most versions of Windows 8 is that the use of DVDs is “in sharp decline” and in ways to cut “a significant amount in royalties” for the codec, Microsoft decided to remove the functionality to minimize cost. Microsoft has said in a post…

Our partners have shared clear concerns over the costs associated with codec licensing for traditional media playback, especially as Windows 8 enables an unprecedented variety of form factors. Windows has addressed these concerns in the past by limiting availability of these experiences to specialized “media” or “premium” editions. At the same time, we also heard clear feedback from customers and partners that led to our much simplified Windows 8 editions lineup.

Although Microsft will not include disc media playback functionality except for the Media Center Edition, the cost-saving measure will most likely pass on to the consumer.

Evernote Clearly is a remarkable Google Chrome extension that makes reading your favorite websites not only easier, but much easier. This extension enables you to wipe away all the extra menus and extra tidbits that typically surround an article and delivers to you just the important data in a way that is best suited to your needs. Basically, it gets rid of the distracting tidbits of information and leaves only what you came to read.

Through theming, you can customize the font and background of the site overlay so that every page is clear and concise. You can even use the extension to print a page without all the extra nonsense so many poorly-written sites throw on to your printouts.

Do you use Evernote already? Clearly also allows you to quickly and easily clip information from articles and save them to Evernote for future reading.

There are some upsides and downsides to this extension, however. For example, content creators may not favor it as it wipes ads which help support the site out of the reader’s point of view. In addition, if vital information is kept outside of the HTML article tags, there’s a change it won’t appear on Clearly. While the extension itself is quite smart, it is far from perfect.

Looks like Apple has another problem with security and the safety of their operating system. Apple’s latest update of Lion, Mac OS 10.7.3, has accidentally turned on a system-wide debug log that logs all of the login credentials, including passwords, since the update to 10.7.3 and logs the passwords in plain clear text. Users that have used Apple’s FileVault service prior to updating to Lion, but kept the folders encrypted using the legacy version of FileVault are vulnerable (FileVault 2 users are unaffected). Anyone who has administrative access or root access has seen the users credentials of the encrypted home directory, or from a Time Machine backup, or even from a FireWire connected hard drive. Also, since someone can access the user credentials to the account, they can access anything meant to be protected by the user credentials.

The flaw was first reported by the security researcher, David Emery. He posted the findings to the Cryptome mailing list, saying…

…anyone who can read files accessible to group admin can discover the login passwords of any users of legacy (pre LION) Filevault home directories who have logged in since the upgrade to 10.7.3 in early February 2012.

This is worse than it seems, since the log in question can also be read by booting the machine into firewire disk mode and reading it by opening the drive as a disk or by booting the new-with-LION recovery partition and using the available superuser shell to mount the main file system partition and read the file. This would allow someone to break into encrypted partitions on machines they did not have any idea of any login passwords for.

David Emery has said the best way to prevent some malicious user to have access to their credentials is to enable full disk encryption with FileVault 2, saying “which then requires one know at least one user login password before one can access files on the main partition of the disk.” Lets just ope that Apple will patch the hole soon.

UPDATE: The Mac OSX 10.7.4 update fixes the security hole
