Need to call on your Google Voice line but you are not on your computer and you don’t want to use your cell phone minutes, or if you want to make that device act (somewhat) like a cell phone, there are apps for iOS and Android that will let you call on your Google Voice line without the need of using a real phone with the use of the internet. Note: If you want to make your regular phone to work with Google Voice, head over to the Obi box review for information.

The following apps are simple and will walk you through the steps on activating your Google Voice number with the app and using it over WiFi.

iOS

GV Mobile + (Paid) – One of the most popular Google Voice App in the iOS app store, GV Mobile + brings the world of Google voice to the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Compared to the other app, GV Mobile + is one of the most elegant Google Voice App for iOS.

GV Connect (Paid) – Similar to GV Mobile +, GV Connect allows you to call from your iOS device using Google Voice. While the app is not as elegant, it has some more functionality than its similar counterpart.

Talkatone (Free / Paid subscription add-ons and premiums) – Talkatone is an app that lets you make free Google Voice calls using your device’s 3G or Wi-Fi connection. In the iOS version of this app, the call display screen mimics iOS call screen, but its dialer remains different. Unlike the other Google Voice Apps for iOS, Talkatone is free, but the downside is that there are banner ads as well as pre-roll ads. To not remove ads, a subscription must be purchased every set month purchased.

Android

GrooveIP (Free / Paid) – GrooveIP allows you to make free call on the device’s Wi-Fi connection. While the free app is descent and works, upgrading to the paid version allows the device to use your 3G connection as well as seamlessly integrate the native dialer, take advantage of the proximity sensor (when available) and sign in to your Google voice account as invisible.

Talkatone (Free / Paid subscription add-ons and premiums) – Talkatone is an app that lets you make free Google Voice calls using your device’s 3G or Wi-Fi connection.  In the Android version of this app, the call display screen as well as the dialer screen pretty closely mimics the Android Ice Cream Sandwich / Jelly Bean call screen. Unlike the other Google Voice Apps, Talkatone is free, but the downside is that there are banner ads as well as pre-roll ads. To not remove ads, a subscription must be purchased every set month purchased.
