Google Postpones Sales Of Nexus Q
It looks like one of the product that Google has announced at Google I/O 2012 is being postponed. Recently, Google has been sending emails to customers who pre-ordered the Nexus Q know they that they have delayed the devices in order to make it work better, and said that the user feedback from the previewers said that they want to do more than what they can do today. Though Google said that they would be shipping the devices shortly after Google I/O, but it looks like it is not happening.
In return to the customers who pre-ordered the devices, Google has said they will “extend Nexus Q preview to our pre-order customers and send a free device”.
In the letter, they said…
We have an important update about your Nexus Q pre-order.
When we announced Nexus Q at Google I/O, we gave away devices to attendees for an early preview. The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm. We also heard initial feedback from users that they want Nexus Q to do even more than it does today. In response, we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.
To thank you for your early interest, we’d like to extend the Nexus Q preview to our pre-order customers and send you a free device. If you had other items in your order, your credit card will be charged for those items only.
Your Nexus Q will be on its way soon and you will receive a notification and tracking number from Google Play when it ships.
The Nexus Q Team
Though the device looks nice, the price point is a little too high. Compared to the Nexus 7 announced at Google I/O, the Nexus Q can cost as much as $100 more than the tablet and it is only useful if you have an Android device. Hopefully, there will be a change in the design and functionality of the device.
