Zeikos ZE-CBGT2 Battery Power Grip for Canon Rebel Review
One of the downsides to most DSLRs in the market is its battery. Unlike the standard batteries you can get from a store, you have these special batteries that are proprietary to that line of cameras. Luckily there is a way to get back the convenience of batteries.
The Zeikos ZE-CBGT2 Battery Power Grip is a camera grip for the Canon T2i, T3i and T4i line of cameras. One of the major features of this DSLR accessory is the ability to use AA batteries instead of the LP-E8 batteries to power the camera (though you can still add 2 LP-E8 batteries if you want to). In addition to the ability to use AA batteries, you also get an additional shutter, main dial, AE lock, AF selection, and aperture and exposure lock to take better images in portrait and a convenient place to store the battery cover when using the grip.
Pros:
-
Additional shutter, main dial, AE lock, AF selection, and aperture and exposure lock to take better images in portrait
-
Flush with the camera
-
Allow the use of 6 AA batteries instead of LP-E8 batteries
-
Convenient battery cover flap storage
Cons:
-
Plastic case for the batteries feel a little bit cheap in some areas
Notes:
-
Needs 6 AA batteries if you are going with AA batteries, equaling a max throughput of 9V (when in use with alkaline batteries). Recommend to rechargeable batteries as they have an average max voltage of 1.2V (equaling a more tolerable 7.2V)
Overall, the Zeikos ZE-CBGT2 Battery Power Grip camera grip is a cheap yet really efficient way to get more from your Canon T2i or newer cameras. With this grip, you can take advantage of AA batteries; leading to less time and money purchasing batteries to extend your shooting time. With the additional shutter and manual composition buttons, you can get better images in portrait. Even though we reviewed a DSLR grip for Canon T2i and newer cameras, they have grips for many different model of DSLRs. This grip should be the next accessory to any DSLR owners.
