Dance Dance Revolution in the Classroom
Video games and classrooms. Usually those two don’t mix together. That is not the same for Dance Dance Revolution. Over at the United Healthcare booth, the company announced that they partnered with Konami to bring Dance Dance Revolution into the classrooms to help fight obesity. While standard physical activities does not appeal to most of the kids in school, daning to music that kids will like will appeal to more kids than before. Over at the convention, they showed off the game running with 12 players, but can handle up to 48 players.
As of right now, they have just started the service although Konami has been testing their software since the development stages with a limited number of schools. With those schools, students are given a smart card that monitors the amount of time, the amount of calories and how well they are playing with the game. In addition, teachers, as well as parents, can keep track of their kids progress with the service.
