OCZ Agility 4 Review

A couple months ago I reviewed the OCZ Vertex 4, stating that the drive is great for those looking for a preformance-based drive on delivering the maximum read and write speeds for an excellent price. Now, let’s take a look at a more casual SSD, the Agility. OCZ has always marketed their Agility series as the middle of the road in the aspect of preformance and durability.

Today, we’re looking at the latest Agility SSD from OCZ, the Agility 4. It provides many improvements on the Agility 3 including a brand new controller and SATA III which provides up to 6GB/s of transfer. The drive overall does very well with speed preformances and is very comparable to the Vertex drive series.

As you can see above with CrystalDiskMark, the read and write speeds range, depending on how big the file sizes are. Although the speeeds may look slow, they are much faster than you would find in a traditional spinning media drive. Not even the fastest 10K and 15K drives can compete with an SSD.

This SSD is great for anyone who uses their computer on a casual basis, for exampe just browsing the internet or lightwight games. SSDs are great for giving a computer a second wind if it’s starting to slow down from the age of the computer. Through our testing, a SSD can dramatically increase your computers responsiveness with just this one upgrade.

The best part about this is that it can fit into any comptuer. Use it in your Windows desktop, throw it into your Mac, or put it in you Linux box. Like any drive, it’s cross-platform and can give any computer a much needed speed boost.

I’ve personally been running the Vertex series in my desktop computer and have been very happy with my computer speed compared to a spinning disk computer.

You can of course find this SSD on Amazon for a relitively good price and it comes in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB models depending on how much space you need. You’ll never go wrong when using this drive in your computer.
