Amazon Announces A New Kindle Line

Amazon announced six new lines of Kindle devices.

The first announced Kindle is the Kindle PaperWhite, which is a black and white e-ink display, 25% more contrast, 212 PPi, 62% more pixel and has a  frontlit device using a patented light guide. Unlike the backlit Nook, the Kindle PaperWhite’s light is directed down on the display. Amazon said that the device will operate up to eight weeks with the light on. Other information include 9.1mm thick, 7.5 ounces, black, has no buttons, rounded corners, lots of light levels, estimate the amount of time needed to finish the book. The price will be $119 for the non-3G model with Special Offers, $139 for the non-3G model without Special Offers, $179 for the 3G version with  Special Offers, $199 for the 3G Version without  Special Offers, and can preorder it today and ships October 1st.

The second Kindle is the smallest Kindle device, and it comes with new fonts, crisper test, and 15% faster page turns. The price will be $69 with Special Offers, $89 without Special Offers and will be available to pre-order today and ship September 14th.

The third device is the, long waited, Kindle Fire HD 7 inch. The new Kindle Fire has a 1280 x 800 resolution,  TI OMAP 4470 processor, dual “stereo” speaker with Dolby Digital Plus, a font facing camera, a new polarizing filter to cut down on the glare (25% less glare), two wi-fi antennas to cut down on interference,  MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) built-in and using the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz band, 16GB of minimum storage (and announcing that 8GB is dead), HDMI out, Bluetooth. It will be $199 for $16GB, $249 for 32GB on the 7-inch and you can pre-order it today and ship September 14th.

In addition to the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD, Amazon announced a new 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD which has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 with 254ppi, a TI OMAP 4470 processor, dual “stereo” speaker with Dolby Digital Plus, a font facing camera, a new polarizing filter to cut down on the glare (25% less glare), two wi-fi antennas to cut down on interference,  MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) built-in and using the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz band, 16GB of storage (and announcing that 8GB is dead), HDMI out, Bluetooth. It will be $299 for 16GB, $369 for 32GB on the 8.9 inch and you can pre-order it today and ship September 20th.

In addition to the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 inch, Amazon announced that a 4G LTE 8.9 inch model, with 32GB of minimum storage for $499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB and has a 250MB a month, 200GB of cloud storage, and $10 amazon credit for $49.99 a year. The premium model to the 8.9 inch model will be avalable for preorder today and ship November 20th.

To the previous generation Kindle Fire (now known as the Kindle Fire SD), Amazon has bumped the processor 40%, double the ram and extend the battery. It will now cost $159.

To the Kindle Fire announcement, Amazon announced that the WisperSync will additionally sync audio with text, calling it WysperSync with voice. Amazon also announced Immersion reading, which allows improve understanding of the book with the ability to listen to professional narration while you read and synchronized real-time highlighting. Additionally, WysperSync for Games is announced which allows gamers on the device to store unlocked levels and never have to restart the game from the beginning.

Other new features include to the Fire: a new email client that allows faster access to the email, Facebook, Skype, Kindle FreeTime (a way to control the amount of time your kids spend on the Kindle Fire) and X-Ray (which now allows users to pull up information on an actor, get definitions, and more information on a thing you are reading or watching) .

Amazon has released many new devices to its Kindle line, but there is still the Apple event on Tuesday. Will Amazon be on top of the tech announcement fest?
